I haven't read nearly as many books as I used to before I got the Internet at home. However, I read a lot of fan fiction and online articles, so I'm still a reader.

The original for my Jo/Nathan icon was ripped from VisitEureka.net and edited by me. I'm sorry for the poor quality; I don't have much talent for graphics. I wish I had made the text a little more pronounced so it could be read. It says "Unspoken Desire," by the way. :)

I became a fan of this pairing ever since "Noche de Suenos." Yes, I know Fargo rescues the maiden from the predations of big, bad Nathan, but this scene is straight out of a bodice ripper. Maybe, just maybe, Jo has a subconscious desire for Nathan, but would rather die than admit it. Maybe. ;)

Nathan needs a strong woman to keep his bad boy tendencies under control, and Allison just is not strong enough, at least not the season two version. Jo can handle him. And, let's face it, Zane Donovan is just Nathan-light. Why settle for a pale imitation when you can have the original in all his alpha-male glory?

Once More With Feeling

I've been over at YouTube, which can be addictive, and have been watching clips from OMWF. I thought about who I think did the best job of singing and decided to rank the performers from favorite to least favorite. This isn't passing judgement on those at the bottom of the list, since I think all did a good job, even Nicholas Brendon, who routinely has been criticized for his singing, poor boy. :) It's just my own humble opinion as to why I liked who I liked.

1. Hinton Battle (Sweet) -- His singing, his dancing, his overall coolness -- Sweet had it all.

2. Anthony Stewart Head -- His voice makes me melt. Enough said!

3. Amber Benson -- Amber is very close to ASH and Mr. Battle. Normally, I'm not a big fan of sopranos, except for Loreena McKennitt, but Amber's voice was so clear and sweet (like Loreena's) that I was mesmerized. Under her spell, indeed!

4. James Marsters -- While I liked the tonal quality of Emma's voice better, James owned his songs, especially "Rest in Peace". His acting was inspired in all his scenes. I'm not a Spuffy fan (huge understatement!), but in this episode it was actually romantic instead of dysfunctional.

5. Emma Caulfield -- Anya and her bunnies! LOL Emma has a good voice.

6. David Fury -- Surprise! Just one line ("They got the mustard out"), but it was clear the guy can actually sing. I'm glad he did his cameo.

7. Sarah Michelle Gellar -- Actually a decent singer for a novice, she really brought Buffy's pain to life in her songs.

8. Michelle Trachtenberg -- Her voice is very pretty and she would have ranked higher if it had been stronger. When I first heard her, I was unimpressed, but on repeated listening (I own the OMWF soundtrack), the beauty has come through and I enjoy listening to her.

9. Nicholas Brendon -- His voice, though not the best, at least wasn't painful to hear. (No one's was). He comes ahead of Alyson, whose singing was better, because of that non-stop line "It could be witches! Some evil witches! Which is ridiculous, 'cause witches they were persecuted, Wicca good and love the earth and woman power and I'll be over here." He didn't miss a beat! LOL

10. Alyson Hannigan -- Her singing was decent, although she was overshadowed by the others. She had slightly more material than David Fury's one line, but it seemed like less because of her reluctance. Perhaps if there is a next time, she won't be so shy, and we can really hear what she sounds like.

11. Marti Noxon -- Her singing was okay.

Suffering is such sweet sorrow. :)

Well, the icons are sort of mine. I cut and pasted from two team photos I found at Gateworld, so give credit where credit is due. The originals can be found at http://www.gateworld.net/sg1/photos_s9cast.shtml I noticed that, in the absence of promo shots of Daniel except for one individual shot and the cast pictures, Gateworld created another individual one for him and one of him and Sam using one of the team photos. So, I'm not the only one cropping away. LOL

BTW, Gateworld, thank you. This Daniel fan is grateful for the additional pictures.

I created the icons using a combination of PhotoShop and IrFanView. In addition to those two programs, I used Paint on the second one, since Daniel and Teal'c were at opposite ends of the lineup. The brown you see in the first one is General Landry's arm. Sorry about not getting it out of there.

If you want to use either, go for it. Spread the D/T love!

It's been ages since I've posted in this journal. I intended it to be a place for discussing Stargate SG-1 and its spinoff, Stargate Atlantis, but I just am not as fanatical about either as I used to be. A feeling of ennui has settled in about my fandom interests; I want to move on to meatier things.

Now, mind, I do still like to read what others have to say on the subject, I just don't have the energy to respond. It's the lurker's life for me. Perhaps the new season will change things for me, especially since the first part of the season seems to be dealing with the Arthurian legends, but, from what I've seen so far, it looks like TPTB will be playing with their shiny new toy, Colonel Mitchell, and will be putting Daniel and Teal'c into the background. Again. Gee, what a surprise! And, of course, the Savior of the Universe, Colonel Mary Sue Carter, will be rejoining the series after Ms. Tapping's hiatus, so forget the guys, including Mitchell, after that.

Damn, but I miss the days when it was an ensemble show!

While I was at work tonight, I thought about a series of drabbles from the Stargate's perspective (imagining it as sentient). It might be interesting to get its perspectives on the events of some of the episodes. It is tied into the main computer because of the dialing program, so maybe it can access mission reports.

I can't think about this subject anymore, because I'm too sleepy. I'm logging out and going to bed.
